Prediction of the difficulty level in a standardized reading comprehension test: contributions from cognitive psychology and psychometrics

This research seeks to identify possible predictors of the difficulty level of reading comprehension items used in a standardized psychometric test for university admission. Several potential predictors of difficulty were proposed, namely, propositional density, negations, grammatical structure, vocabulary difficulty, presence of enhancement elements (words highlighted typographically), item abstraction level and degree of similarity between correct option and relevant text to resolve the item. Despite the increased importance attributed to distributed improvisation in major crises, few studies investigate how central authorities can promote a harmonic, coordinated national response while allowing for distributed autonomy and improvisation. A Quantum-Inspired Classifier for Early Web Bot Detection

This paper introduces a novel approach, inspired by the principles of Quantum Computing, to address web bot detection in terms of real-time classification of an incoming data stream of HTTP request headers, in order to ensure the shortest decision time with the highest accuracy. The proposed approach exploits the analogy between the intrinsic correlation of two or more particles and the dependence of each HTTP request on the preceding ones. A partire dal 2002, l’Azienda Ospedaliera Universitaria “Policlinico Vittorio Emanuele” di Catania ha effettuato il trattamento di circa 350 pazienti affetti da neoplasie oculari mediante fasci di protoni prodotti con il ciclotrone disponibile presso i Laboratori nazionali del Sud (LNS). Tale impianto viene utilizzato per attività di ricerca nell’ambito della fisica sperimentale, per cui è stato necessario modificare le caratteristiche del fascio, rendendolo idoneo alle applicazioni cliniche. Teaching hand-washing with pictorial cues

<p><span style="font-family: Garamond; font-size: medium;">Applied behavior analysis has been shown to be an effective means to teach daily living skills to individuals with intellectual disability. In the present study pictorial cues based on task analysis, system of least prompts, and social reinforcement were used to teach a man with mild intellectual disability to wash his hands correctly. An ABAB reversal design was used with follow-up after two weeks. The results show a rapid increase in hand-washing skills.</span></p>
